How to Choose the Best Medical Spa for You

By Dr. Jessica Wright | April 18, 2018

With so many medical options out there, it may feel overwhelming when you choose your Medical Spa or Botox doctor. Safety First and foremost, safety should be your number one driving force and results should be a close second. It is always good to check reviews to give you an idea of how the business treats its clients and you may get some information on their outcomes. However, reviews cannot give you a lot of information about safety. It is imperative that you see a physician during or before your treatment. Medical spa treatments are medical procedures and should be […]

You may be self-conscious on how you look for those Holiday Parties. I know how you feel, and we have all been there! I have put together 5 easy steps on how to lose weight. Tip 1. Coolsculpting vs. Liposuction – Which is Best for You?

By Dr. Jessica Wright | October 23, 2017

Many patients ask us about Coolsculpting vs. Liposuction for the best results. The answer is patient and problem area dependent. To help you to decide between the two, I decided to write this blog post. Downtime and Invasiveness First off, Coolsculpting is non-invasive and requires no downtime. Liposuction is invasive and requires some time off work and exercising. You typically cannot work out for 6 weeks after liposuction and will need to wear a compression garment. After Coolsculpting, you may return to normal activity and should not miss any work. There is no need to wear a compressive garment as […]

Sleep and Your Skin

By Dr. Jessica Wright | February 6, 2017

The importance of getting your “beauty sleep” isn’t just a myth. A good night’s sleep is essential for an optimal complexion. During the day, your skin is constantly battling damaging free radicals caused by sun exposure and air pollution both inside and outside. At night, your skin cells go to work to repair the damage and restore your complexion. So what happens to your skin if you don’t get enough sleep? One too many late nights cause our bodies to release more cortisol, the stress hormone tpmaap2. Cortisol regulates many of our body’s processes, including metabolism. When our bodies are […]

How Stress Affects Your Skin

By Dr. Jessica Wright | January 23, 2017

When we think of the physical effects of stress, we often complain of tension headaches or stomach upset. But did you know that even moderate stress can negatively affect your skin? Even though we look at our face several times a day (at least!), we don’t often associate stress levels with our appearance, but in fact, our face is one the first places signs of stress will show. One of the most common physical signs of stress on our face are breakouts or acne. Under chronic stress, adrenal glands stimulate our sebaceous glands, causing them to secrete more oil. This […]

What is Coolsculpting?

By Dr. Jessica Wright | January 4, 2017

CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive body contouring procedure that uses a controlled cooling device to freeze fat cells and eliminate unwanted fat. This non-surgical treatment is FDA-approved for use on the abdomen, thighs and flanks. The best candidates for Coolsculpting are those in good shape, but who have areas of stubborn fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. How Does Coolsculpting Work? The science behindCoolSculpting®, called cryolipolysis, works on the concept that fat cells are more vulnerable to freezing than surrounding tissue. These cooled fat cells go through cellular apoptosis or controlled cell death, which eliminates subcutaneous fat cells through […]

Botox vs. Dysport vs. Xeomin: Which Wrinkle Relaxer Is Right for You?

By Dr. Jessica Wright | December 12, 2016

Patients ask me some version of this every single week: “Should I get Botox or Dysport? Is one actually better?” It’s a fair question, and the marketing around these products doesn’t make it any clearer. So let me give you the honest, injector’s-eye answer I give in my chair at Rejuvenate Austin. Dr. Jessica Wright, board-certified surgeon, founder of Rejuvenate Austin Is Dysport better than Botox? Neither is universally “better.” Botox and Dysport are both FDA-approved neuromodulators that relax the muscles creating dynamic wrinkles, and for most patients they deliver very similar results. The practical differences: Dysport tends to kick […]

The Micro-needling Sensation

By Dr. Jessica Wright | August 11, 2016

Micro-needling is the hottest new trend in skincare, and for good reason. The micro-trauma stimulates your own ability to produce collagen. We do not make collagen past the age of 25 unless there is an injury. A treatment that increases collagen addresses many skin concerns, namely aging. Hollywood A-listers are using this treatment to look younger and more natural. There are ways to maximize the amount of collagen you make and how much you retain. At Rejuvenate Austin, we have clients who apply a very specific skincare regimen following micro-needling. This regimen nourishes the skin for maximum collagen production. It […]

truSculpt for Stubborn Baby Weight Gain

By Dr. Jessica Wright | May 7, 2014

One of the concerns I hear most often from new mothers is related to troublesome areas of leftover baby weight gain. As a mother of a 2-year-old, and expecting another child in just a few weeks, I know this struggle well. After giving birth, many new moms strike out on a fitness and diet regimen to get back their pre-pregnancy body as quickly as possible. While I don’t necessarily agree medically with this approach, I certainly understand the motivation. We are inundated constantly by incredible stories of Hollywood stars who have just recently given birth, but are already back to […]

I saw their Botox special on social media. That led to yelp and google reviews which are awesome. I was created with kindness and was taken to the treatment room right away. I didn’t have to wait. Dana came in and is an expert. Her education is impressive. We discussed realistic expectations and other options to help with my concerns. Their packages are worth it and not overly expensive. I also connected with Paloma about microneedling. Once I went over their monthly membership, it gets me a facial every month and a set Botox price of $10 per unit. Other perks as well. I’m stoked I found my new care team. Try them, I bet you’ll love them too.

During and after completing Ultherapy and microneedling sessions with Paloma, I vowed I would tell everyone about my outstanding, even “pleasurable” experience with her. And then there was Spring Break. That was mid March, and now it’s early May. The vow keeps pricking my mind, and I just realized, this is actually a very good time to follow through with it. I should begin by saying I’ll be 70yo in November, so I’ve not been generating collagen several decades now, and gravity has taken its toll. My lower face was beginning to sag, and my neck was getting the “turkey flap.” The skin along my jawline had loosened, and the marionette lines around my mouth were deepening. I had dimpling in the chin area, and I don’t even have dimples! What to do? I’d filled them before and wasn’t thrilled. Filler is a tricky thing with me; maybe because I’m thin skinned or simply because I’m older? I’m vain and wasn’t liking the way I looked, but what to do when you don’t have the pocketbook for a face lift, or even just a lower face and neck lift? After consulting with our cherished Dr. Wright, it was decided I’d best be able to reach my goals with separate sessions of both Ultherapy and Microneedling. She paired me with Paloma, and wow, how could an Ultherapy session ever be described as “pleasurable?” Paloma is one of the most engaging, amusing, compassionate, and PROFESSIONAL souls ever. She’s also VERY SKILLED and VERY FOCUSED. How is she so attentive, fun and kind while remaining so intense, concentrating on her work at hand? Throughout the session, I wondered how we could chat so easily as she simultaneously passed the wand that delivered energy waves into to the deeper levels of skin, and calmly reassuring me all the while? She carefully navigated the whole of my face and neck, section by section, always attentive to what the screen was cuing, while keeping me distracted from the “pings.” I’d had this procedure once before with Dr. Jessica, perhaps a decade ago, but I didn’t recall it being this intense. I guess ten years changes things, or maybe the way I experience them? Paloma deliberately told me ahead of time which areas would be more sensitive, and she’d talk me through them with her soft voice and engaging conversation. She used words to encourage me: “One more quick one here,” or “next I’ll be working here, and it will be easier for you.” We spoke about the areas that especially bothered me, and she passed the wand delivering heat energy, and focusing more on those concerns. I don’t have enough knowledge about Ultherapy to speak too confidently, but Paloma may have said the wand signaled where to direct more heat, and she did so either by making another pass or by increasing the intensity of the energy waves? What I DO know is that it’s 2 months later, and I’m FEELING and VISIBLY SEEING the results! I know if I return someday, I’ll be seeing Paloma! Needless to say, I am very pleased, grateful, and happy with the results! Thank you so much, Paloma, and thank you, Dr. Jessica!

Just had microneedling with PDRN done last week with Paloma and it was such a great experience. She detailed everything she was doing, asked if I had questions multiple times, made sure I was always comfortable and overall communicated exceptionally! Highly recommend her.
