We understand that not everyone knows the 4-1-1 on Medspas, so we decided we’d share a few of the most common misconceptions about Medspas and debunk all the rumors!⁣ ⁣

Misconception 1 —⁣ 👉🏼 A Medspa is a spa⁣ ⁣
Truth is Medspas are actually Medical Practices, just like any other doctor’s office where you would go for Medical treatments.⁣ ⁣

Misconception 2 —⁣ 👉🏼 It’s okay to be treated without seeing a Doctor, Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner⁣ first. ⁣
Again, going back to Medspas being Medical Practices. All services that are medical procedures and require a prescription, the patient must be seen by someone with prescriptive authority prior to treatment. You probably wouldn’t go to your OBGYN and have the office manager do the exam. ⁣

Misconception 3 —⁣ 👉🏼 Non-invasive treatments are not Medical procedures⁣.
The use of any FDA approved medical devices and/or medications make the treatment a medical procedure… Yup, that includes cool sculpting and skin pen micro-needling!⁣

[While we’re on the train of misconceptions, we thought we’d throw these ones in too.]⁣ ⁣

Misconception 4 —⁣ 👉🏼 Getting Botox and/or Filler will immediately make you look “overdone.”
At Rejuvenate Austin, we believe injectables should be undetectable. ⁣

Misconception 5 —⁣ 👉🏼 Getting preventative Botox will cause your face to sag as you age⁣.
This is SO untrue! The muscles used for facial expression DO NOT structurally support the skin. The SMAS (Superficial muscular aponeurotic system) is a large portion of the structural support for the skin. The SMAS is not affected by Botox, and the other factor is how much collagen and elastin is in the skin.⁣ ⁣
